Increasingly encouraging the use of generative AI, Google announced another novelty in its segment during the Google I/O 2023 conference. The company has introduced a new feature for Google Photos called Magic Editor.. It uses artificial intelligence to edit photos without using the tools used by professionals.

It means that you can completely change the photo and leave it the way you always wanted. Among the functions of the tool is the ability to move and resize certain points in the image, stretch objects, remove handles or replace the cloudy sky and make the day more sunny.

In the first images released by Google, Magic Editor managed to make significant changes to one of the examples used by the company. Thus, he moved the child to the bench, bringing him closer to the center of the photo and creating a part of the bench that was not there.

Google hasn’t announced a release date yet

It is not yet clear when generative AI will be introduced to consumers. However, the company has revealed that it will first appear on “select” Pixel devices. Without knowing when and on which mobile phones it will be released, new details are expected to be released in the coming weeks.

While the Magic Editor is a significant novelty for users, Google is already taking risks in other situations with AI in images. That’s because Magic Eraser already lets you remove certain objects, and Photo Blur can add other effects to an image.

The features introduced by Google for Magic Editor are not unprecedented in the world of photography. Of course, these and other functions can be performed in a program like Photoshop, but this requires an understanding of this program that few people have.
