Season 2022-23 Formula Emain competition cars electric motorsport, a new generation car will appear – called Gen3 – with more power, a redesigned engine and a fighter jet-inspired design.

The single-seat design was thought to shorten it to allow more wheel-to-wheel competition on tight trails and save 60 kg in weight, although the number of parts increased.

The car was opened up ePrix Monaco, which will be played this weekend and will debut in the next championship – so far without a specific calendar. In the last two years, Formula E has started its competitions in January and February.

The new generation engine delivers 350 kW to the rear axle and 250 kW to the front axle, for a total of 600 kW of regenerative energy. However, battery capacity will be reduced as the organization estimates that 40% of the races will be run using power derived from the tracks themselves.

Formula E CEO, Jamie adjustment, believes that the new generation of machines in this category will show that the coexistence of performance and sustainability is possible. In addition, he believes in a small “revolution” in sports.

“Monaco is the spiritual home of motorsport and there is no better place to display our Gen3 racing car,” commented the manager, according to Motorsport.com. “It breaks through and challenges the conventions of motorsport, setting the benchmark for performance, efficiency and sustainability.”

Alejandro Agagfounder and president of the electrical division, reiterated that each new generation of vehicles introduced represents an evolution in this area of ​​motorsport, and singled out the Gen3 as the category’s most ambitious idea so far.

“Gen3 represents the third era of Formula E and world championships,” he said. “We’ve pushed the limits of electric vehicle technology even further, and it’s our most ambitious project to date.”
