In the event of a serious breakdown with the car, the car owner immediately contacts the service station. And having discovered some nonsensical defect, many continue to drive it, postponing the elimination of the “sore” until later. The AvtoVzglyad portal warns that such an approach to the electrical system of a car has very serious consequences.

It happens that at some point the lights of the car dim – for example, side lights or “turn signals”. Or sometimes they start working intermittently. We need to find out quickly what’s going on. Because, for example, a bad contact is indicated somewhere in the wiring. Or a short circuit to the business. Or a “dying” generator. In any case, if you do not find out the true cause of weak lamps, you are in for an unpleasant surprise in the near future. Let’s say, in the form of a broken battery (and the inability to start the car) or the “brain” of the engine starting to play weird.

Short circuits in electrical wiring are also dangerous in themselves. And it’s not just about the risk of fire from the warmed up “short man” here. Violations of the insulation of wires, connectors and all kinds of connections of electrical appliances and other components are sometimes extremely difficult to detect. The most harmless consequence of a short circuit is the leakage of electricity, followed by the battery being discharged to zero. Several such episodes – and the battery can be sent to the trash. The inability to start the car in the morning is present “by default” in this case.

Even worse, if the insulation in the harness is damaged, they “bridge” with each other. In this scenario, it is no longer possible to avoid difficult-to-diagnose “malfunctions” in the electrical system of the machine as a whole. Up to the “burning out” of certain electronic components. Which means you are forced to spend a lot of money on the purchase of new parts.

For someone far from the world of electricity, it will be a revelation to discover that not only abnormal grounding of some kind of wiring to the body is bad, but also the disappearance of the “mass”. Usually such a nuisance creeps up imperceptibly – due to corrosion, gradually “eating up” the terminal. If at some point the battery’s ground contact “falls off”, it’s one thing – the charging stops, which will haunt you later on at startup.

But when the “mass” deteriorates, for example, at the engine control unit, the driver begins to encounter inexplicable malfunctions in the engine. No less insidious is the gradual decay of the “ground wire” at the fuel pump. At a certain point it just stops and the engine runs out of fuel – with all its consequences.

The conclusion from all of the above is simple – you need to check the status of all wiring that you see under the hood. Even the smallest and most inconspicuous. And both for their insulation and for the terminals. Plastic damage must be immediately isolated and rusty poles must be cleaned of dirt and oxides and then additionally protected against renewed corrosion. So as not to suffer later in search of the cause of a global outage caused by the failure of a penny thread.
