Old ideals are dead, bring new ones! It is worth acknowledging that the previously known method of choosing engine oil for your car is no longer relevant, since the brands that were known to a huge number of Russian car owners yesterday are now, to put it mildly, not quite available to purchase. The situation forces us to develop new selection criteria. However, it is still too early to sound the alarm – a holy place is never empty, and new names are already on the shelves in place of the deceased. But how do you choose the right oil from the many unknowns? Details – on the portal “AvtoVzglyad”

Our editors Mitsubishi Lancer, who was chosen for the role of an “anti-crisis” vehicle, showed himself to be an undemanding man and generally responded to care: drive – drive, regularly winding kilometers on wheels. Sometimes it breaks, but it’s just as easy to fix. Summer is just around the corner – a series of languid improvements and restorations. Without haste. It is now time for the next MOT, a filter has been purchased, but with the most important car fluid – engine oil – the question is.

We used to not skimp and now we don’t. But today, even if you are ready to overpay for a previously well-known brand, there is a risk that in any case you will not get what you expect. Manufacturers who have left our market, as you understand, cannot guarantee the quality of their products entering Russia unofficially.

We’ll have to start all over again. When choosing oil for a used car, you should be guided by the manufacturer’s tolerances, mileage and what oil was previously filled. We are not going anywhere here, we will not invent anything. 160,000 mileage for a car is not such a big figure to change something. Unless the viscosity characteristics, parameters of viscosity and pumpability. That is, we initially rely on the standard recommendation that the factory recommends 5W30, and with a sufficiently high mileage, you can take, for example, 5W40. This is probably the maximum you can go for.

The used engine of our Mitsubishi Lancer is famous for its reliability and survivability, but the already noticeable development is doing its job: an error in the selection of oil, saving or simply buying a fake can lead to a shot, the cost of which will be in the current conditions exceeds 200,000 rubles and approaches the price of our purchase of this vehicle.

Well-known car service specialists, with whom we have to communicate in the course of our business, now recommend looking not only at the characteristics of the oil, but also at who and where this oil is produced, and who is the distributor in Russia. If the company is proven and experienced, has previously worked with serious manufacturers and has not been found susceptible to fraud, then most likely after a year it has already picked up a new partner and supplies the Russian market with a worthy product that has passed all the necessary authorities and checks . It is also worth paying attention to the manufacturer’s range: if a company offers a wide range of products – from transmission and industrial lubricants to fully synthetic motor oils – it has more confidence.

Rinnol Quant M X-Drive 5w30 fully synthetic motor oil, which has an API specification of SN / CF level, went to the editorial office of Avtovzglyad for testing. The product is new to our market and is produced by the Spanish company EURO MIX OIL SL at the Turkish factory LUBRICO PETROKIMYA. Upon further investigation, it turned out that this plant also produces its own brand oil, as well as original oils for Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, MAN and Renault.

Rinnol has an official representative office in Russia and one of the distributors is LUBRIMEX, which previously had an official partnership with Total and ELF for a long time.

By the way, today many world manufacturers of cars and other equipment have their plants in Turkey, where the most modern models of cars and trucks are produced. Most of these industries have a fairly high degree of localization, which implies that the necessary car parts are produced here. Accordingly, the production of engine oils, which are a necessary component for the equipment to leave the assembly line, should theoretically be at a decent level. All this is important because, despite the existing and increasing restrictions on the Russian car market, Turkey remains one of the few options for accessing new technologies. We are talking, first of all, about the latest additives recognized by all car manufacturers, which we have not had officially for a long time.

In general, everything looks good “on paper”. And since this oil is quite suitable for the 4G63 engine according to the tolerances, it was decided to test it on our Mitsubishi Lancer.

As the saying goes, trust but verify. We can only give our opinion after an independent check. Mitsubishi Lancer 2004 release will act as a used laboratory, where the new product will be tested in the most difficult conditions – in endless Moscow traffic jams. After some time and several thousand runs it will be possible to summarize the first results.
