Europeans are sounding the alarm about the bleak prospects of the local tire industry in light of economic sanctions imposed on Russia. The Old World, as the AvtoVzglyad portal discovered, is at risk of being left without wheels.

It turns out that about 60% of the carbon black consumed by Germany comes from Russia. Now deliveries have been interrupted. In theory, manufacturers from China, India and Saudi Arabia can replace Russian soot. However, such a change in logistics can take about a year.

The publication expects a shortage of tires in Germany in the coming months due to a lack of carbon. This is particularly evident from reports that European tire manufacturers are reducing their production plans for 2022. Recall that carbon black, that is, soot, is now obtained from fossil fuels – mainly from oil and gas.
