The Russian market survived a year without official deliveries of new cars. Difficult, difficult and expensive, but survived. Are there fewer cars on the road? No. Has the anger of the people increased? No. Do widespread European and US sanctions work? The answer to this question is on the pages of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

Josep Borrell, a Spanish socialist and a loyal collaborator of Europe’s foremost gynaecologist, Ursula von der Lein, and part-time EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, proudly announced the high performance of the subordinate economy: “The EU reduced exports of cars to Russia by 80% by 2022″.

The loudest clapping at that time was in China, where numerous monuments to a European official were erected along the way: in the entire thousand-year history of the Celestial Empire, such gifts were rare. However, this was not the end – old Josep decided to finish his speech nicely: “Deliveries of cars from the Old World in the same 2022 to the countries of Central Asia have increased 300 times.” Checkmate to you, gas, European business has effortlessly replaced your export!

If the Spaniard had been a little more experienced and wiser, before the speech he would have climbed onto Wikipedia and studied the composition of the states of Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. Straight podium next to Putin during the Victory Parade. But this, of course, is coincidence, nothing else. The great European official does not know that there are few who can afford a European car in Central Asia.

And preference is given to the all-forgiving “Japanese”, who are able to pull the leash for a long time on difficult and broken roads in the most difficult climate, or to the “Chinese” who are actively conquering the market. Or – oh, miracle! — to its own automaker, which is off to a good start in the winter.

Simply put, a tripling of sales – never bought, but suddenly loved – is in no way due to the attractiveness of the European car industry or a sharp rise in the level of prosperity of the local population. And with the supply chain, which has become a little longer, but has the same end point: Russia.

In Russia itself, they do not try to hide that “parallel imports” and other methods of circumventing bans and restrictions, which the friendly Iran, which has lived under restrictions for half a century, undoubtedly shared with us, can and should be actively applied. Yes, it has become more difficult and longer, sometimes more expensive, but many neighbors want to make money. And there is a lot of money and other wealth in Russia. The example of the Georgian president, who really wanted to keep a handshake face, but asked her to, is very indicative in that sense.

Money decides, not political relations. Therefore, “parallel imports” and other anti-sanction solutions will exist precisely until the start of official deliveries. After all, smuggling routes and routes through “third countries” are coordinated on both sides – both on the side of the buyer and, surprisingly, on the side of the supplier.
