Mazda is working on a new generation of the CX-5

Some time ago there were rumors that the Japanese intend to remove the Mazda CX-5 from their range, or radically change this SUV. Talks arose on the basis that the Asians have developed a rear-wheel drive “cart” on which they plan to produce all future cars. The company’s management decided to suppress the speculation.

As brand representative Alastair Doak told the Australian edition of Drive, the new generation of the crossover will appear at the end of 2024. Commercial vehicles will reach dealers in 2025. No one will seriously reformat or leave the “five”. The CX-5 is the company’s best-selling SUV in many countries around the world.

Apparently there will be no transition to a new platform either. The model offers traditional front or all-wheel drive modifications, and four-cylinder engines remain under the hood.

Currently, the development of a new generation has only just begun, so it is still too early to draw conclusions. However, we can assume that the CX-5 will get a hybrid version in addition to traditional powertrains. An innovative installation can be borrowed from Toyota.
