Why there will be more traffic jams on the M11 Neva highway

As Vyacheslav Petushenko, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Avtodor Group of Companies, told the AvtoVzglyad portal, driverless trucks will be driving along the M11 as early as June as part of the experiment. That is, huge traffic jams on the highway can be predicted.

Most likely, the M11 Neva highway will become even more dangerous at the beginning of the holiday season, as autonomous trucks will drive along it. This will cause trouble for ordinary motorists, because there were already many questions along the way. In many places it is poorly lit and the quality of the roadway leaves much to be desired. Although it seems that money is regularly paid for the ride.

We add that there are constant traffic jams at pay points on weekends. And the icing on the cake are the test drives of autonomous trucks. The start date for testing is not yet known. It will be announced in June. But it is already clear that the helmsmen heading from Moscow to St. Petersburg will have a hard time.

Recall that the Unmanned Logistics Corridors project is part of the strategic initiatives of the Russian Ministry of Transport. By 2030, drones are expected to increase the speed of cargo transport and reduce their costs.

As for the vehicles themselves, KamAZ wants to test the 54907 Continent truck, equipped with a hybrid power plant consisting of a diesel engine and an electric motor. There will also be heavy trucks developed by Starline with a mass of 8.5 tons and a carrying capacity of 18 tons.
