The Avtotor car factory announced that its staff was being trained to assemble the third model in the line of the Chinese BAIC brand – the X55 crossover. Several copies of this car were made in test mode. In the near future, equipment for programming control units and other electronic systems of the “heavenly” SUV will be installed in the workshops. Full-fledged production of BAIC X55 in Kaliningrad is expected to start in the third quarter of 2023.
Now Avtotor assembles two models of this brand – the X35 compact crossover and the U5 Plus sedan. Later, in addition to the BAIC X55, they will be joined by another SUV – the BAIC X7 and the “train” BAIC EU5. The BAIC X55 is expected on the Russian market with a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 188 hp. Of. and a seven-speed “robot” in the transmission. Crossover dimensions (length – 4.62 meters, wheelbase – 2.7 meters) make it a direct competitor to the Japanese Toyota RAV4.
There is no information yet on the prices of BAIC X55 for the Russian market. We can only say for sure that it will definitely be more expensive than the BAIC X35 from the Avtotor assembly. The latter is now offered to domestic buyers at a price of 1.7 million rubles.
Recall that Avtotor Kaliningrad also assembles cars of two more Chinese brands – Kaiyi and SWM.
