Why does sand remain on the bodywork after a car wash?

Recently, the so-called self-service car washes have gained great popularity in all regions of Russia. On them, for quite healthy money, you can give purity to your “iron horse”. However, after the procedure, sand often remains on the paint. Why is it so unpleasant and how to remove it – in the material of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

To begin with, we remember that sand is a rather aggressive abrasive. When rubbing, it scratches the paint. So much so that over time a characteristic “web” appears on the body. You have to polish the car and pay a lot of money for the service. That is, the benefit of a cheap “moidodyr” is reduced to zero. Let’s see why “most” doesn’t remove all pollution.

You can clean the body almost perfectly with a high-pressure cleaner with shampoo. But quite a lot of sewage accumulates in the lower part of the car – on the thresholds, wheel arches and bumpers. Most often, car owners wash them poorly. They only wet. In addition, static electricity accumulates on the body. If you suddenly feel a slight tingle as you grip the doorknob, that’s just it. Due to this effect, particulate matter is attracted to the body as if by a magnet. Here everything is rubbed with rags. The result is scratches on the fenders and hood. Sometimes they are quite deep.

The attentive reader will object. So what? Wash thoroughly and you will be happy. Take your time. Shampoos play an important role here. They are high alkaline and low alkaline. The first effectively removes loose contaminants. The second are static “byaki”, that is, the already mentioned particulate matter.

Such a double blow to the dirt is used in two-stage cleaning at premium car washes. First, the body is freed from the main contaminants with the help of a highly alkaline composition. Then a low-alkaline foam is applied, the foam of which is rubbed with a coarse sponge. This makes the coating shine like new.

Of course, there is no such choice in “self-washing”. The cheapest shampoo is poured and even diluted with water. Here’s the result. What must we do? First you need to turn on a strong jet of water from the “pistol”, apply shampoo, rinse with water and repeat the procedure two or even three times. Such a “multi-level” cleaning will somehow help not to “pick up” scratches. But it also costs more…
