The country’s current fleet consists mainly of “carts” older than 15 years, and the lion’s share of Russians simply cannot afford to buy a brand new car. One way to stimulate demand could be to abolish the recycling fee for factories that produce cars.

Sergei Mironov, chairman of the Just Russia – For Truth party, head of the SRZP Duma faction, said that the authorities’ policy of allegedly developing the country’s auto industry simply ignores the opportunities and demands of consumers. According to the deputy, an increase in the recycling fee, which could happen in the near future, threatens to end the indigenous auto industry.

“The price of a car will rise even more! It is necessary to exempt from this claim enterprises that actually produce domestic cars and do not cast nameplates on the body, ”said Sergey Mironov on the AvtoVzglyad portal.

However, this should not be taken care of by the authorities alone. It is certainly worth making changes to taxation, working out options to reduce the cost of raw materials needed for production, as well as simplifying certification requirements and, of course, focusing on direct sales from car manufacturers. But it is unlikely that any of these measures will be taken in the near future. Nor will there be any abolition of the salvage tax for cars. But why not dream?
