In the warm season, the vast majority of Russian drivers do not spend money on the purchase of a specialized “summer washer”, preferring to fill the tanks of their cars with ordinary tap water. Especially advanced drivers add a little detergent to it – so that the remains of insects are better removed from the “front”. But the fact is that in most cases such water contains a fair amount of salts – mainly various carbonates.
It is they who form the most powerful “stone” deposits on the inside of our teapots in the shortest possible time. When we pour tap water into the windshield washer reservoir for a sufficient time, deposits of a similar composition form in it, in the washers and in the pump and on the windshield washer level sensor.
It must also be admitted that manufacturers of many “summer” liquids make their products from the same tap water, including highly mineralized water. There’s nothing you can do about it: everyone is somehow trying to reduce production costs. In other words, even using only specialized “washers” instead of regular water also does not guarantee against the formation of deposits in the windshield washer system.
It would be possible to ignore this stone plaque. But it can clog the nozzles, reduce the overall performance of the system, interfere with pump operation and disable the washer fluid level sensor. At the same time, the latter can chronically warn the driver of his absence, even if the tank is full to the brim.
It is believed that all of these parts are not repairable. In that case, they must be replaced with new ones. Which is sometimes not budgetary at all. That’s just to deal with limescale in the glass-washing system and one of the “kitchen chemicals” is helpful – designed for tile washing, limescale stains that would make any self-respecting housewife furious.
To remove the sediment in the tank and nozzles, it is enough to pour into them about a liter of water, mixed with a few milliliters of the “chemistry” mentioned above. We will reserve that this should be done at the nearest self-service car wash. So we start the car and spray the “ring” on the windshield well – to rinse the nozzles. Meanwhile, the plaque in the tank dissolves. Then carefully wash the remains of the solution from the windshield and the body with a Karcher jet. Then we push the barrel of our “water gun” into the neck of the tank with washer fluid and thoroughly wash the inside from the remains of the tile cleaner. After that, the window cleaning system is as good as new.
