Someone will say that the fewer traffic police inspectors on the road, the less corruption. Maybe. But replacing police officers with automatic restraint cameras is also not the best option. Because electronics gives a very truncated view of the event, actually taking a moment out of context. And on the basis of this fragment, the driver is fined.
For example, the vehicle in front suddenly braked sharply and, in order not to get into an accident, you had no choice but to change lanes sharply to the adjacent lane – through a continuous marking line. If this happens in the field of view of the automatic fixation camera, the driver will receive a penalty under the Code of Administrative Offenses. To respond timely and correctly, to avoid an accident. And if the witness to the maneuver was not soulless electronics, but a traffic cop, most likely it would not have cost a fine – a living person in uniform would have adequately estimated what happened.
Or let’s take the classic case of a forced stop at the side of the road – you turn on the “emergency gang” and you stand, without bothering anyone. You never know what happened: the car broke down, the passenger was carsick, the driver was bitten in the eye by a mosquito… In short, a forced stop. The camera on the post does not care about your problems: it takes a picture and issues a fine, since the work of the “emergency gang” is not visible in the black and white photos. And a traffic cop who witnessed such a “traffic violation”, again, would not have handed out a fine. After all, he is not a complex and understands what is happening on the road.
