It turns out that a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Russia and Belarus is currently taking place in Vitebsk. The event, little understood by most car owners, was marked by the adoption of a model law to unify OSAGO legislation in Russia and Belarus – a law with a long title “On the system of compulsory insurance of civil liability of vehicle owners of the Union State.”
Thanks to this decision, domestic motorists will have the opportunity to move in the neighboring territory with the same policies as in Russia. Now this requires a separate issue of the so-called green card – an analogue of our OSAGO for traveling abroad. The adoption of the model law opens the possibility of parallel changes in the legislation of both countries on the compulsory insurance of civil liability of car owners of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
“After the creation of the new system, drivers will have the opportunity to purchase a policy valid throughout the territory of the State of the Union, covering insured events in accordance with the laws of the country where the accident occurred,” he said. Viktor Pinsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Regulations.
