The SDA published a ban on dangerous (aggressive) driving more than seven years ago. In the time that has passed since then, no sanctions have appeared in the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses for violating this clause. The deputies made another attempt to close this gap.
The deputies proposed supplementing the Code of Administrative Offenses with penalties for dangerous driving. They believe that article 12.181 “Deliberately dangerous (aggressive) driving behavior” should be included in the Code. For the first such violation, it is proposed to impose a fine of 5,000 rubles. And for a relapse – either a fine of up to 10,000 rubles, or deprivation of “rights” for up to a year. The explanatory memorandum to the bill states that dangerous driving includes multiple lane changes in heavy traffic, failure to observe a safe distance and lateral interval, sudden unreasonable braking, obstruction of overtaking and other maneuvers that provoke an accident. The authors of the novel emphasize that a condition for punishment for dangerous driving is the presence of a video confirming the fact of aggressive driving.
– Aggressive driving can only be done intentionally. That is, the awareness of the illegal nature of their actions. At the same time, a person foresees its harmful consequences and often even longs for its beginning. Up to 80% of accidents occur because of such drivers, and administrative responsibility for such behavior has not yet been established, ”one of the authors of the bill, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy Yaroslav, noted. Nilov.
