Often problems arise with the car on the road. It’s a long way to the service and there are no special tools with you. About how to find a way out of a difficult situation and identify a breakdown, the AvtoVzglyad portal tells.

A typical case from practice: during a ride, the cooling fan of the engine stopped for an unknown reason. However, when the “iron horse” hits a bump or the driver himself touches the blades with his hand, the “cooler” suddenly comes to life. Unpleasant, and also fraught with overheating of the power unit. We need to solve the problem, and as soon as possible.

To do this, open the hood and look at the relay and fuse box. First you need to check the performance of the Carlsson. No special tools such as multimeters are required for this. And we don’t have that. An ordinary staple will suffice. Look at the back of the fuse box cover. There is a diagram that will help you understand which relays are responsible for fan operation. As a rule, there are two of them – for the first and second speed.

Then we take out one of the relays and close the contacts. This is done using an ordinary paper clip. But in order not to be frightened during the process, we carry out the entire operation with gloves. If the blades rotate only in one case, one of our relays must be replaced accordingly. Such a replacement will not be a problem, because many cars have a stock of this little thing.

Another way is to close the contacts at the so-called OBD2 connector. It allows the helmsman to independently read the code of a particular error, and then find the decoding of the received value in the instruction manual.

For example, after the ignition is turned on, “Check” starts flashing on the box. First there are long signals, then short ones. Long means tens, short means units. Let’s say if the Check Engine gave two long flashes and five short flashes, the error code is 25.

However, keep in mind that such diagnostic methods are only used on older cars. For example, the method works on the third-generation Mitsubishi Pajero, but not on the fourth. It contains much more electronics. So if you have a car from before 2017, pay attention to the lifehack. But if you are younger, then only a specialized service with expensive diagnostic equipment will help such an “iron horse”. And he has yet to be found.
