The current Honda CR-V has been in production since 2016, and this year the crossover could finally change generations. Camouflaged prototypes of the sixth CR-V have been spotted on the roads more than once.

In winter, the first patent image ran out into the network, and now it can also be seen in photographs: they are published by the AutoHome portal with a link to the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry. Judging by the certification documents, the CR-V will grow in size and receive a single engine – the already familiar 1.5 turbo four.

The sixth generation Honda CR-V was designed taking into account other new products of the brand. Particularly close is the resemblance to the HR-V, to which the model looks like narrowed optics, the shape of the radiator grille, which in the CR-V received a pattern in the form of a honeycomb, as well as the housings of the exterior rear-view mirrors.

A document released by the Ministry lists the dimensions of a “sixth” CR-V. They have increased markedly: the crossover has grown in length by 82 millimeters to 4703 millimeters, which is 103 millimeters more than the Toyota RAV4. In width, the model added 11 mm to 1866 mm, in height – only one millimeter to 1680 mm, and the distance between the axles became 40 mm more and amounted to 2701 mm. For comparison, the same RAV4 wheelbase is 11 mm shorter.

The increased dimensions will allow for an extra charge to equip the Chinese CR-V with a third row of seats, which the fifth-generation crossover in China did not have.

But in the engine range there were no changes: the novelty will be offered with a former four-cylinder 1.5-liter turbo engine developing 193 horsepower. As for the date of the premiere, it has not yet been marked. Already in production for seven years, the model is expected to change generation by the end of 2022.
