Yes, car deliveries were suspended, financial programs were curtailed, but dealerships and, above all, warranty obligations were maintained. With caveats, of course: some repairs are made with used or refurbished parts, which causes resentment among car owners. And besides, in vain.

The Russian offices of most car importers are in limbo: they do not seem to exist – they do not transport cars, but at the same time they exist, because the spare parts, service and warranty service departments continue to work. In the current situation, the story of warranty repairs looks very unexpected: they can all at once refer to force majeure circumstances, they say, well, they do not allow us to carry spare parts, components and assemblies, so we cannot guarantee the fulfillment of obligations. Moreover, even the courts will side with the importer in such a situation – there are already precedents. Indeed, circumstances. Truly an irresistible force. Can’t argue with that. However, warranty work is still being performed. It remains only to answer the classic “how” and “why”.

Why? Yes, because no one leaves, despite the overt coercion. Informative, shall we say, coercion: While the great uncles talk about democracy and rules, the companies that have led these same uncles to high positions are forced to take stock. And there are not the usual “pluses”, but quite specific “minuses”, which, against the background of recent failures called “pandemic”, seem completely out of place. A lot of money has been invested in the Russian market, countless, literally, and business does not like to lose. I can not stand it. Investments must therefore be recouped at all costs. But how?

The lack of spare parts, especially various complex components and assemblies, is very great in many areas. It is quite tangible and currently “parallel import” – oh yes, official importers are also involved in the “gray scheme”, but as you thought, it is not blocked. However, in Russia there was and still is a business for the repair of units. Frankly, despite the stories of recent years about the need for one-piece replacements, almost every part of the car can be repaired: starters, alternators, gearboxes, clutches, and so on. Even the engine itself.

To fulfill the warranty obligations, the employees of the Russian offices of importers are looking for third-party companies capable of high-quality repairs, to which they transfer defective components for restoration. Repaired in turn, put on warranty cars. The quality does not suffer in any way, but the appearance does. That’s why Russian drivers swear: they say they did it under warranty, but how!

There can be only one piece of advice: open a news forum and read what is happening in the country and in the world. Could you refuse? Simple. And the court wouldn’t help. But they did not refuse, they did it, having paid, we note, not only the detail, but also the work. Perhaps this is the case when you should be at least a little grateful: not to importers in general, but to our Russian farmers, who, instead of sitting their pants in a comfortable chair with their wages, looking for solutions to our own problems.
