The crisis and inflation forced motorists to tighten their belts and all companies active in the car market to seriously restructure. I had to rebuild supply chains and look for new brands to replace those that had disappeared. But the problems did not end there: the ruble began to fall. About when to wait for the next round of growth of “prices” for auto parts, the portal “AvtoVzglyad” was told by market professionals.

Due to the economic instability in the country, our people have long since switched from consumption to saving. This also applies to cars. No one is talking about replacing the “iron horse” in 3-4 years. They prefer to drive with what they have. The fleet is aging, which increases the demand for parts.

According to AvtoSpetsCentre Group of Companies, the price increase for spare parts in the first half of this year averaged 20%. However, there is no shortage. Delivery times have only increased for a few unique units. Now they have been extended from 30 days, which is quite a lot.

At the same time, the devaluation did not frighten the population; citizens traveled no less. So, Dmitry Matveev, general director of the company My Autoprokat, notes that the demand for the purchase of auto parts has not changed over the past year. In the first instance, a drop may have taken place, because there was no stability in the price. People did not make non-urgent repairs, waiting to see what would happen next. At the moment everything is relatively equal.

Over the past two weeks, however, the expert has observed a tendency to increase “prices”, which are rising slightly after the dollar. But like last year, when everything has sharply increased in price 2-3 times, Mr. Matveev does not expect. Still, he is sure that price changes for individual brands will not be avoided.

For example, a year ago, a headlight for Datsun mi-DO cost 17,000 rubles, and now it is 79,000, and this is on sale. On the shelf of the store, optics are even more expensive. In other words, now any accident will damage your wallet. But what if you do not buy spare parts in a store, but directly at a service station? Unfortunately, not everything is clear here either.

Yulia Bershadskaya, business development manager at Advanced Payment Solutions, says the price directly depends on suppliers’ inventory. At many gas stations, spare parts prices will increase by 10-20% by the end of the year. Because the parts bought at the rate after the jump will be sold.

At chain service stations (for example Fit Service), which work with large suppliers, the stock level makes it possible not to increase prices at the moment. But further devaluation of the national currency will proportionally affect the price tags.

Overall, Roman Timashov, service director at AVTODOM Altufievo, agrees with this view. He says current exchange rates will increase component costs by about 20%. Since the beginning of the year, spare parts have already increased in price by 20-25%.

There are still problems with the supply of complex components: complete engines, cylinder heads, transmissions. They can come to us from 2 to 6 months.

But what about Chinese companies?

– For ‘heavenly’ exporters dealing with spare parts, prices change slightly during the year. They even have the opportunity to give discounts to regular wholesale customers from Russia,” says Denis Kuznetsov, head of the spare parts department at FAV-Eastern Europe LLC.

“But in this situation, all savings are offset by the growth of the dollar,” he continues. If there is an increase, you pay more for a comparable batch of goods than before. According to the laws of the Russian Federation, customs duties are calculated at the official rate established by the Central Bank of Russia and valid on the day of registration of the customs declaration.

Logistics is also becoming more expensive. International transport is due to the growth of the yuan-dollar/ruble bond, domestic Russian transport is likely due to domestic inflation and fuel price adjustments. In the current situation, it is hardly worth counting on a reduction in the cost of imported spare parts or at least price stabilization.

And it becomes clear why wealthy citizens sell their BMWs and buy Chinese cars. If the gearbox breaks, then the “German” will turn into real estate for a few months and suck a lot of money, and the “Chinese” will be brought to life much faster, and even under warranty. Well, the growth in consumables has nowhere to go whether you have a cheap Granta or an expensive Mercedes-Benz.
