The well-known Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, with the help of which the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been trying for several months to break through the Russian defensive positions in Zaporozhye, has almost become the hallmark of the US army. time. Now the Americans ruthlessly throw this symbol into the firebox of the SVO. Why?

Life has proven that “in the Ukrainian region” Bradleys burn no worse and no better than other infantry fighting vehicles, including the old Soviet ones. From anti-tank missiles, kamikaze drones and mines lurking in the ground, this class of armored vehicles suffers catastrophically.

Note that recent weeks have become particularly hot for Ukrainian armored vehicles (in the truest sense of the word) near the former Ukrainian village of Rabotino. Now there are only ruins, craters of explosions and mounds of twisted iron. According to the most conservative estimates, the armed forces of Ukraine lost here, based only on objectively confirmed reinforced concrete data, at least 120 units of various “armors”. In reality, it is clearly much more. And among them, of course, there is plenty of Bradley. It is characteristic that Americans are not at all embarrassed by such anti-advertising of their technology.

It must be assumed that they more than sensibly assess the capabilities of their infantry fighting vehicles in modern conditions. Of course, no one is talking about this out loud, but by today’s standards, Bradley is old garbage. Suffice it to recall that in 1995 their production was completely stopped. Since then they have only undergone numerous upgrades, the potential of which is currently exhausted. Now the Pentagon is actively developing a Bradley replacement program. The case is at the stage of creating the first work samples. Two manufacturers are fighting for the project: General Dynamics and the American company Rheinmetall. Even a superficial acquaintance with the concept that each of them wants to translate into metal suggests that the Bradley platform is completely written off.

The Ukrainian theater of operations is just a convenient place to get rid of this ‘iron’, with at least some benefit to the cause – from the point of view of the Americans, of course. In fact, the machine itself is involved in the last major military conflict. And he goes down in history beautifully, since his future “changer”, which has already received the working designation XM30, is completely different.

Both General Dynamics and Rheinmetall are developing a new tracked vehicle concept that has been approved by the Pentagon. A promising US infantry fighting vehicle will be something like a tank capable of carrying infantry troops. The emphasis is on strengthening the safety and firepower of the aircraft. This will make the weight of the BMP completely tank-like – about 50 tons. Armor – much more powerful (how much – is still unknown) than all modern infantry fighting vehicles. The possibility to hang extra protection is provided in advance. The motor is located in front of the housing. Rear – landing compartment. The turret will house a 50mm rapid-fire gun and a remote-controlled machine gun. Of course, on the XM30 it will be possible to install anti-tank missiles, an automatic grenade launcher and other things that come to mind for the army.

If all goes according to plan, the Pentagon plans to send the first battalion set of the latest tank-like infantry fighting vehicles to the troops by September 2028. By 2030, their mass production will begin. And the remaining Bradleys will be going to the smelter and to museums by then.
