For most motorists with a parking ban in a certain place, everything is clear and understandable, especially if the corresponding sign is visible. There are now a number of situations in which, according to the traffic rules, a sign is not mandatory, but parking is still prohibited.

Motorists, like all other people, are herd animals. In terms of traffic regulations, this phenomenon manifests itself most conspicuously when parking spontaneously, for example near an apartment building, metro station or office centre. Everyone parks their car… just like everyone else, as usual at this special location! Focusing on the behavior of other motorists and the lack of road signs prohibiting parking of cars here.

But at some point, a swarm of evil tow trucks appear and drag a group of cars to their “den” (that is, to the seized lot), parked strictly in the spirit of local “traditions”. From which their owners then begin to spout justified anger from every crevice: everyone always parks here like this – for which they punished me!

To avoid such questions, before fearlessly exiting the car where there are no signs prohibiting parking, do your own research on the “vulnerabilities” of your chosen parking space in terms of traffic regulations.

The most common “style”, due to which you may not find your car in the place where it was left, is related to the prohibition in the traffic rules to park in narrow places. Make sure there is at least three meters between the side of your “swallow” that is pressed against the curb and the axial continuous dividing line. If this distance is smaller, know that parking in this style is clearly prohibited by the rules.

If the axial dotted line is not a problem. And with a solid dividing line, you can’t joke, even if there’s no parking/stopping prohibition sign.

The second fatal error, which leads to a fine and sometimes to the evacuation of the vehicle, is related to the existence of cyclists in nature. Do not ignore the marked cycle path on the roadway, even if all other fellow motorists bravely park their vehicles on it. Sooner or later the tow truck will get to them.

There is a kind of “chip” in the traffic rules, which makes it quite possible to become the owner of a ticket for wrong parking, but which 99% of motorists do not remember! This is a prohibition on leaving the car “near dangerous bends and convex breaks in the longitudinal profile of the road, when the visibility of the road in at least one direction is less than 100 meters.” This craze of the Rules is not only relevant for settlements in difficult terrain. Strictly speaking, in accordance with this, a car cannot be parked even in places where, for example, a deaf fence of a private household extends to the intersection. Or trees or shrubs with a dense crown grow almost close to a fairly sharply winding roadway.

Leaving a car in such a place is tantamount to subjecting it to a “free kick” by experts in the field of traffic rules and the Code of Administrative Violations of the police and the local evacuation organization. In order not to be in a similar position, the driver is strongly advised to refresh Chapter 12 of the SDA – “Stop and Park”.
