The pressure in the system is monstrous, the filter element resembles pressed toilet paper or old newspapers and therefore immediately becomes clogged, torn and deformed. Sometimes even the “glass” of the filter itself bends, so sometimes you can see the problem just by looking into the engine compartment.

Over the years, a huge amount of dirt accumulates in the engine, no matter how often the oil is changed. The unit is cleaned with special compounds, the crankcase is removed and washed, but the impurities inside remain. And they all fly directly into the filter and in large quantities. You can completely wash the engine from age-old deposits only by disassembling it “down to the propeller”. But you should always start small.

Replacement, new oil and diagnosis via the “poke method”: operate the car in the usual way and check the dashboard more often than usual. If the changes happened, they got off easily and earned a reward for quick wit. No – hello shot. Maybe the dirt really has accumulated too much. The oil pump may have failed, causing the gears to wear out over several hundred thousand miles.

The ‘top up oil’ icon on the dashboard means only one thing: you are no longer allowed to drive. Not at all. If it lights up and does not go out, then you need to take immediate action – there is nowhere to delay it.
