Moskvich launched mass production of a liftback with index 6, Omoda held a presentation of the “hot” S5 GT sedan, Jaecoo and Jetour announced new crossovers and the half-forgotten Haima decided to try its luck again in Russia. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court sided with another motorist who was picked up by traffic police while “drunk” in a parked car. And for more details about the most important news of the past week, see the video review of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

And, according to tradition, let’s start with Russian. Namely from the Moskvich plant in the capital, which this week launched mass production of the liftback with index 6. The start of sales of the new product is scheduled for the end of October. Prices have not yet been announced, but all technical details are already known.

This past week will be remembered for the Moscow presentation of Omoda, one of Chery’s many sub-brands. The Chinese presented the S5 sedan in the GT version to the public. It differs not only from the usual orange brake calipers and side mirrors with turn signals, but also in the powertrain.

Meanwhile, another Chery sub-brand – the Jaecoo brand – revealed the start dates for Russian sales of the J7 and J8 crossovers. So dealers will start accepting orders for the first on September 28, and for the second in November. Jetour (also part of the Chery group) is not far behind its competitors: this company has announced a new SUV, the X70 Plus.

And another news from the Chinese fields: the Haima brand officially returns to Russia. Yes, yes – the same one that tried to win our hearts and wallets in the first half of the 2010s. It turned out that the certification of the cars has already expired, agreements have been made with dealers and pre-orders are being accepted. This time the brand offers the 8S crossover and 7X compact van. The prices are already known.

And finally some social news. The Supreme Court ruled that a drunk driver who is behind the wheel of a parked car cannot be considered a traffic offender and will be prosecuted under the article ‘drunk’. The prosecutor must prove that the citizen drove the vehicle while under the influence. The court made this decision after considering the complaint of a motorist who was caught in a parking lot in Chekhov, near Moscow. But what does it mean for everyone else?
