“Moskvich-2022”: what will be the new Russian car?

From now on, and it looks like it will be forever, a 100% stake in Renault Russia will be owned by the Moscow government, because according to the deputy mayor of the capital, Maxim Liksutov, there is really no option for the French to buy the plant back. What he wrote in Russian in white on his Telegram channel: “this plant will always be Russian.” Well, short and clear.

That is simply producing cars at this company under the Moskvich brand, the rights of which belong to the same Renault until 2025, that will hardly work. However, no one bothers to register the Moskvich-2022 brand or, for example, Moskvitch. In any case, you have to start all over again. Or at least the design.

Obviously, we can start production of the Renault Duster crossover under the LADA nameplate, which in particular was also announced by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, but called the French-Romanian LADA all-terrain vehicle “Moskvich”. . would be cynicism at the very least. No less than the refusal to sell the capital’s Renault factory “in the back” to foreign partners.

Probably, they will entrust the development of a model of a new Russian car to some NAMI, which has acquired a 68% stake in the not-so-great and terrible AvtoVAZ, but at the same time is notorious for a whole scattering of dubious projects . One of the top models, as we remember, was the “Putinmobile”, assembled on the total basis of the giants of the global auto industry. But the times are not the same now, and therefore it will no longer be possible to “steal” the idea (read – components) in the West. Maximum in China! This means that a primordial Russian car, modeled on KamAZ and UAZ, will be built on the basis of ‘heavenly’ components.

Maybe we can at least come up with a design ourselves? It’s just better to put this aside and attract the young and ambitious. For example, as Lexus does, every year urging young people to create a conceptual style for possible future models. In addition, we have enough clear heads and far from those who sit in hot places, demonstrate work activity, and sometimes do not demonstrate at all.

For example, one of the curious sketches of the future Moskvich was depicted in a very peculiar way by the artist Roman Pryadko, who presented an essay on the model 2140. The result is a classic three-volume sedan, the image of which is literally saturated with nostalgic retro motifs, and at the same time spiced up with bright spices of modernity.

The machine was attractive and inside. At the same time, the designer tried to preserve the image of the original Moskvich, diluting the interior with advanced functionality, such as a combined graphics of the “neat” and the center console. It is impossible to speak of the abundance of smart options.

But even such a project was not destined to come true. And certainly not because the fashion designer is from Ukraine. The fact is that it is easier to raze the plant, on which huge residential complexes will quickly grow, as happened with the Likhachev plant, and move the production of that same LADA Duster to Tolyatti, where they are still trying to produce Ladas with sanctioned components in portions (more precisely, with their absence). Which, in particular, the authorities were also able to report. And the once-announced electric vehicles, which should be under the “KAMAZ” banner, but are not required to be assembled, seem to be called the infamous “Moskvich-2022”. After all, the city car Kama-1 is only a prototype, and the machine will become a series under a different model name. Now you all know him. Amen.
