It’s about the loop: we “upgrade” a weak standard cable for towing a car

It’s about the loop: we “upgrade” a weak standard cable for towing a car
The warm season is associated not only with long-distance routes, but also with trips to nature, where tracks and smooth slopes regularly beat even fashionable crossovers. What can we say about simple cars! It seems: cling to the cable for a neighbor and leave. But not everything is so simple. And why, experts of the AvtoVzglyad portal explain,

An ordinary driver using a vehicle to get from one point to another only remembers the cable at the very last moment: when the car is already deeply entrenched and only a “rescuer” can pull it out. Whether it’s a tractor or an SUV, a more successful colleague or a group of comrades, you need a cable. Is it in the trunk? Must see in the set! Only now it’s unlikely that what’s in the standard set will help: in difficult terrain, the standard “rope” will rather break and do things than help you out. So what should be added to the standard equipment of the car in order to carry out a safe evacuation of the “pampas”?

The first thing that comes to mind is a sensible cable. Strong, reliable, jerky – that stretches and then smoothly pulls the victim to the “solid ground”. This “comrade”, although it costs a lot, requires attention – easy cleaning and drying after use – but still it should always be with you. However, it is not an important element of the design.

Evacuation or dragging is accompanied by sharp shocks, as a result of which not the “ordinary” cable breaks, but its hooks. Practice shows that they are made of something that remotely resembles metal and bend even through a light “application” of force. After the hook deftly flies into the windshield of the “towed”, it causes irreparable damage to health, nerve cells and the car itself. Such a cable is initially not loadable and only contributes to short-term towing on a flat road. For off-road you need something more serious.

When leaving for a river or forests with fields, be sure to put in the trunk a set of buoys – metal loops with a screw connection that allow you to securely fasten the cable to the tow loop. You should only select them based on the size of the standard towing eye. Simply put, the holder should fit freely and slide easily. Otherwise it makes no sense.

Such refinement makes it possible to make even an ordinary thin cable, which is politely placed in the “motorist set”, enough for evacuation from off-road or overcoming a difficult section with a tool. Difficult and dangerous place? Let’s fold the cable in half or tie a few together! After all, we now have something to attach the “rope” to the pull loop.

By the way, tractors and SUVs, as a rule, have their own proven cable, which, again, is probably more reliable. But the chances of the “good uncles” having the right size shakla are extremely slim. That’s why you should carry your “loop” with you – in off-road conditions it is often more important than a cable.
