Recently, the designers of the BMW brand have actively used one technique – they enlarged the “nostrils” of the radiator grille to unimaginable dimensions. The updated “nostrils” of the third series have gotten big, but not huge. In addition, the facelift brought different headlights and bumpers, as well as black side window trim instead of chrome. In addition, 17-inch wheels have now been declared basic, although previously the more practical 16-inch wheels relied on the first versions.
In the cabin, the main revolution was the replacement of the old front panel with a completely new one. Above it now rises a pair of screens, covered with ordinary glass. The analog instrument panel and microclimate control unit are gone… Now the multimedia system is responsible for changing the temperature and other settings.
Another major change is the retirement of manual transmissions. From now on, even the first versions of the mrdeli rely on an eight-band “automatic”. The range of performance itself has been preserved, so the range is still opened by rear-wheel drive two-liter modifications 318i and 318d with a return of 156 and 150 forces respectively.
In Europe, local dealers immediately started taking orders as soon as BMW made a presentation of the model, although the first customers will not receive their car until the summer. The Russian prospects for the novelty (and the whole brand too) are vague to say the least… In the near future, however, all market players will have to make fateful decisions for themselves.
