As Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports, a St. Petersburg resident was deprived of her driver’s license for allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident, even though she was not involved in an accident and there were no signs of a collision with her car. The court, as often happens, sided with the traffic police inspector, so the woman decided to seek justice in a higher court. We had to spend 90,000 rubles on this – 40,000 for a lawyer and 50,000 for technical expertise.
As a result, the dispute reached the Court of Cassation, which sided with the director and revoked the decision to place him under administrative responsibility. In addition, the judge ordered that the citizen be compensated for all costs incurred in proving her innocence.
Another motorist, the publication recalls, has been suing the traffic police for unfair punishment for five years since 2018. In his case, the cassation court ruled that the driver was not entitled to compensation for moral damages, because the traffic police inspector would have acted within the limits of his powers. However, the Supreme Court deemed this unlawful and decided to pay the citizen the money due to him.
