On Thursday, September 21, the Moscow government held a discussion on changes in urban transport and the car market, as well as on the main prospects for these areas. The event was attended by industry experts from the capital. The discussion was moderated by Oksana Bondarenko, director of the Moscow Transport Museum.

During his discussion on urban transport, General Director of the Moscow Transport Innovations Foundation Ivan Yunin mentioned digitalization as an important trend. “Of course, the general trend towards ESG, electric transport, new energy sources, in particular hydrogen transport, these trends are also present, and Moscow is probably one of the first in the world here,” the expert noted.

However, the development of urban transport does not mean that there is no longer a need for a personal car, Avito Auto director Kirill Votyakov is convinced. “…In Moscow and the region, sellers list an average of 3,000 cars on the platform every day…The market for new and used cars has stabilized. Every minute 3 offers for the sale of cars are posted in Moscow and the Moscow region. This is more than 1 million cars per year. In three years, the platform’s daily audience has grown 2.5 times,” said a participant in the discussion.

The participants of the discussion noted a change in the attitude of Russians towards Chinese cars. According to Gennady Baranov, director of EXEED, citizens’ interest in cars from China has increased significantly over the past three years. In 2021 the company sold 2,200 cars, in 2022 – 12,300, and by the end of the year the brand plans to sell 50,000 cars.
