The costs are calculated based on the average values ​​of the distributor’s recommended prices and sales volumes for each model, taking into account changes. This figure exceeded the three million mark for the first time.

The record was also noted by Rosstat, but the agency calculates average prices for cars without taking into account the volume of sales and based on the cost of only basic equipment. According to their data, the cost of a domestic car for the first time exceeded 1,000,000 rubles, and that of a foreign car – 2,300,000 rubles, which is 1.1% and 2.1% higher than a month earlier. The increase in car prices in August averaged 4-20%, and the number of trim levels whose price lists were updated increased 2.5 times.

The process of raising recommended retail prices continued in September, with market participants noting that carmakers have not yet factored in all the new costs in price lists. The previous record for the average price of a new passenger car in Russia is 2.8 million rubles. This figure was recorded in March 2022.
