The VSK insurance house has published the results of a survey revealing the most stolen makes and models of cars in Russia. Despite the rapid growth in popularity of Chinese cars, ‘Koreans’ remain the leaders in theft figures.
According to the VSK press service, based on the results of 9 months of this year, Hyundai cars were the most stolen in Russia – they account for 31% of the total thefts. Slightly less popular among criminals are Kia (24%) and Mitsubishi (7%). The most popular model among car thieves was the Kia K5 (14%), as well as the Korean crossovers Hyundai Palisade and Santa Fe. In the premium segment, the leaders are the Genesis G80 sedan and the Mercedes-Benz GLE crossover. And among Chinese cars – Chery.
The majority of car thefts traditionally take place in Moscow (45%); the Moscow and Samara regions are noticeably less criminal (10% each). In the capital, the bulk of thefts occur in the Northwestern District, and the most dangerous cities in the Moscow region are Dubna, Noginsk and Lyubertsy. The largest number of thefts occurred in May (28%), February and April (17% each), as well as in June (10%)
