The Bavarians presented the new cross coupe X2 – during an incredibly long life cycle of six years by today’s standards, the model never underwent a restyling and now appeared to the public in its second generation. And, as is now expected, in one of the versions the crossover lost its internal combustion engine.
The new generation BMW X2 received the factory index U10. The car is made on the X1 platform of the current generation, but compared to its predecessor, the new X2 has grown significantly in size and almost jumps into the next class – the crossover has immediately added 194 mm (4554 mm) in length, 21mm (1845mm) wide, height – 64mm (1590mm). In addition, the wheelbase was increased by just 22mm (2692mm).
In addition to the body shape, the X2 differs from the X1 in details – it has different optics, bumpers, hood and radiator grille “nostrils”, which for the first time received fashionable lighting for compact BMW models. But the interior is borrowed unchanged from the X1. With the change of generation, the X2 became an electric car for the first time – this version received a separate index iX2.
The iX2 xDrive30 modification is a cross coupe with all-wheel drive and a pair of electric motors producing 313 hp. Of. and a battery with a capacity of 64.7 kWh. The WLTP range is 493 km. The other versions are known: the basic sDrive20i received a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engine with a 48-volt starter generator that produced 170 hp. Drive is front wheel drive only.
The X2 sDrive18d is equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder biturbo diesel engine that produces 150 hp. Of. and front-wheel drive, and the xDrive28i version with a 2.0-liter turbo engine of 244 hp was made especially for the US. Of. and four-wheel drive. At the top of the range is the X2 M35i xDrive. It has a 2.0-liter turbo engine and 300 horsepower. Of. in European specification. The Americans received 17 more troops. This version is equipped with a “robot” with 7 gears and four-wheel drive.
