How the traffic police punished tens of thousands of car owners for unpaid fines

According to the propaganda department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, more than 43.5 thousand drivers have been tried for evasion of traffic fines since the beginning of 2022. At the same time, half of them are those who have collected more than 50 “lucky letters”. How does the law punish such offenders?

Malicious violators of traffic rules are held responsible under part 1 of art. 20.25 of the Administrative Code “Circumvention of the execution of an administrative fine”, which provides for the double imposition of a fine for late payment of the decision, as well as arrest for up to 15 days and compulsory labor for up to 50 hours .

However, this isn’t the worst thing that non-payers of “lucky letters” can wait for. With the onset of the warm season, traffic police, in conjunction with bailiffs, are hitting the road to identify “evil people” whose cars are simply taken away. In case of refusal to pay the accrued fines, the vehicles will be sold through an auction. Full details of the raids and their consequences can be found here.
