The State Duma Committee on Transport is studying the idea of blocking the possibility of passage through the central ring road for heavy vehicles on weekends. The ban could also be extended to other highways in the Moscow region.
“Due to the high number of complaints about traffic jams, an initiative by the commission to ban the passage of heavy trucks over 12 tons on weekends is possible,” an anonymous source in the Duma told RIA Novosti.
Recall that the central ring road (road A-113) is a high-speed ring road with a length of 336.4 km, built through the territory of the Moscow region, 50 km from the Moscow ring road. It bypasses large settlements and connects the main radial highways from the capital.
It is believed that the central ring road removes transit traffic from the Moscow ring road, reduces traffic on the outgoing highways and unloads both concrete roads near Moscow – A108 and A107.
