Modern cars are equipped with turbo engines in three out of four cases (we ignore LADA). Which are “hot” by default, that is, they operate at high temperatures, which does not extend their service life. In addition, if you neglect the cleanliness of the radiators a little, the whole assembly will fail. To prevent this, drivers make knowledgeable adjustments to the combustion engine. How, says the portal “AvtoVzglyad”

Engine cooling is the main guarantee of a long service life, but sometimes it is not enough to wash the radiators in time and regularly check the condition of the antifreeze circulation circuit. After all, a modern power source is an overloaded element, the efficiency of which is increased to the maximum level primarily thanks to the resource.

We repeat that the turbo engine is very hot, the temperature is high even under normal operating conditions, and even in traffic jams and at high speeds it is even extreme. To put it all: such an engine when used on the highway will last only a long time, and the city is contraindicated for it. But today, the lion’s share of our new foreign cars are turbocharged cars. And how can this miracle be performed further than a hundred thousand kilometers? The answer is simple: add cooling. And there are several ways to achieve this, which domestic drivers actively use.

The first and best known are additional cooling fans, often powered by a separate button. Niv owners will immediately understand what we are talking about: instead of one standard “breeze”, a cassette of two is installed, one of which is “involuntarily” on a separate electrical circuit. In a traffic jam, for example, it can be turned on with a button, so that more cold air is supplied directly to the engine.

The second option, which perfectly complements the first, has a larger oil pan that allows you to fill a larger amount of engine oil, which, as you know, also performs a cooling function, among other things.

In addition, the improved ‘basin’ usually hangs a little lower, which means it cools down more quickly. Metal crankcase protectors are contraindicated for turbo engines, which do not help in the city, but regularly lead to overheating of the engine. But replacing some elements with aluminum is appropriate: for example, the timing belt housing.

In order for a naturally overheated turbocharged internal combustion engine to live happily ever after, you need to protect its temperature regime by hand or by crook. Do not forget to replace the antifreeze, check the condition of the radiators and wash them regularly, do not forget about the thermostat and periodically remove it from the depth of the engine compartment for troubleshooting. And make sure you remove the iron crankcase protection right away. It doesn’t benefit you in cities and on highways, but it is more than harmful.
