At the end of nine months of this year, the supply of tires in Russia increased by 9.3% compared to the same period in 2022 – to 56.7
According to Kommersant, based on the results of January-September 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, tire production decreased by 13.3%, but in the third quarter the production volume exceeded last year’s level by 17.1% – up to 10 .3 million units
The growth is related both to the low base of July-September 2022 and to changes in the tire market in 2023. Most major factories have already changed hands and adapted to the new conditions.
Local branches mainly produce passenger tires; their production increased by 22.2% to 7.7 million units in the third quarter. Moreover, the majority consisted of winter tires: 6.1 million units.
In addition to tire production, imports also increased in the third quarter: 1.5 times more to 8.3 million units. Based on nine months’ results, almost 23 million products were imported into Russia.
