Taxi services are faced with a sharp reduction in the choice of models to renew their fleet. This is the natural consequence of the departure of most foreign car manufacturers from Russia and a significant increase in car costs.
According to the Autostat agency, it has not become a common practice for taxi services to exchange their usual foreign cars for “Chinese” cars, because they cannot afford it – it is impossible to purchase new expensive cars and recoup investments at current travel prices. And the income level of the population does not allow us to increase the prices for our services many times.
The head of the press service of the Maxim service, Pavel Stennikov, noted that most of the cars used in taxis were purchased before the coronavirus pandemic. With intensive use, they begin to disappear after three years, and there is nothing to replace them, since the market for new budget cars in Russia virtually ceases to exist. Taxi companies are switching to domestic and Chinese models – mainly LADA, Moskvich, Chery and Haval.
The Yandex Go press service added that fleet renewal for the economy segment is progressing more slowly due to the lack of available sedans, including those with automatic transmissions.
