RBC reports that the Sollers automotive group will produce passive safety system components. The project will be implemented with the support of a Chinese partner based on its technologies, but the creation of a joint venture is also being considered, the source of the publication said. It is still unknown which ‘heavenly’ brand we are talking about.
The intention is to produce steering wheels, airbags and seat belts, as well as electronic control units at Soller’s factories. Production will take place on the site of the UAZ industrial park, and the volume of investment in the project at the first stage will be about one and a half billion rubles.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade noted that they support projects for the production of components crucial to the automotive industry. “Localization of passive vehicle safety systems is an important stage in achieving the technological sovereignty of the industry and supplying domestic vehicles with the necessary components,” the ministry said.
