As Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports, at the 39th International Havana Fair FIHAV 2023 negotiations were held on the organization of the assembly of UAZ vehicles in Cuba. Based on their results, the official distributor of the Ulyanovsk plant on the island, the company Echo-Export, signed a memorandum on the creation of an international commercial association with the local enterprise EISA for the production of the UAZ Patriot and the SGR- family. It is planned that all legal nuances will be resolved by mid-December, after which the parties will start preparing the delivery of the necessary equipment and vehicle kits.
Furthermore, negotiations to establish a similar association with another Cuban company, Unión de Industria Militar, were also successful. The launch of the second project is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024 – according to preliminary information, it concerns the localization of UAZ Profi pick-up trucks.
