Chinese brand BYD considers organizing car production in Russia

As their own sources told the AvtoVzglyad portal, the Chinese company BYD is considering the possibility of organizing an assembly plant in Russia. In addition, the former metropolitan factory of the French Renault could soon become a machine building platform for the production of Asian cars.

At present, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation is negotiating with a potential new partner in the person of BYD to organize the production of Chinese cars at the former Renault Russia company in Moscow. In addition, it is possible that the new “heavenly” models will leave the gates of the car factory under the original Russian brand “Moskvich”.

However, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is discussing a similar issue with other Chinese manufacturers. In particular, JAC and FAW, which are already on the Russian market. Representatives of KAMAZ also participate in the negotiations, which, as we recall, announced the launch of a Chinese-based electric city car.

Time will tell what will eventually happen to our authorities. Let’s hope the factory will produce at least a few more cars and not be wiped off the face of the earth, as once happened with the legendary ZIL.
