Serial production of products from the new GAZ Group foundry began on the site of the Gorky Automobile Plant. As the AvtoVzglyad portal found out, the foundry plant in Nizhny Novgorod at the moment turned out to be the most modern production facility of all Russian foundries, where they are engaged in iron casting.
To launch the foundry, GAZ Group invested 4.7 billion rubles, 500 million of which were a soft loan from the Industrial Development Fund. NLZ’s main products will be engine blocks and cylinder heads. The plant will also produce castings for flywheels, crankcases, brake discs, clutch discs, gearbox housings and brake system components.
The main buyers of these products are the automobile aggregate plants Yaroslavl and Ulyanovsk, Gorky Automobile and Kanash. But later on, it is planned to expand the circle of customers from engineering and other industries.
And the main sensation – “Nizhny Novgorod Foundry” was announced as the main site for the localization of a light diesel engine, the production of which is planned for the Nizhny Novgorod site of the GAZ Group! But whatever turbo diesel it is, the gas workers are still silent.
Recall that the Gazelles are now equipped with 2.8-litre Cummins diesel engines of the ISF series. It is quite possible that this particular engine will be located in GAZ’s facilities, but we repeat: the details of the project will follow later.
