The American market is no longer the largest in the world and is giving way to the Chinese market, where premieres take place much more often than in the United States. However, some car brands, trying to maintain their presence abroad, are still bringing their new products to local consumers. What made you happy and sad about the last LA car show?

TOYOTA CAMRY

Perhaps the main highlight of the program was the sedan, which is still trying to claim the title of premium. Yes, yes, that’s right: this is a Japanese Toyota Camry, which survived the ninth generation, but actually all the changes look more like restyling. New features include a new facade à la Prius, which fans of the ‘under-premium’ have already criticized, two-tone body paint to match cheap Chinese cars, and an updated interior. Yes, the interior has suffered the most from the improvements.

Now there is a new dashboard with an integrated multimedia tablet measuring 12.3 inches diagonally, an interactive projection on the windshield and improved seats with a greater adjustment range and ventilation. The highlight was the fiery red interior, which hinted at the car’s aggressive character. But the aggression of the Camry is no more visible than Trump’s presidency, because under the hood now lies a hybrid with a total power of 235 hp. No V6 is expected here anymore. Let us remember.

LEXUS TX

Toyota’s luxury division has rolled out the latest Lexus TX, which we could already see this summer. Well, at least you have to show something to the public by announcing the official start of sales. The five-meter-long crossover boasts an impressive luggage compartment, the volume of which is ready for almost 600 liters of luggage, and with the rear seats folded – almost 2,800 liters.

The car is packed with safety systems and comfort options, which are no different from the latest new products from China. Actually just like with engines. The arsenal of the model includes units of 279, 366 and 412 liters. Of. The latter, by the way, is represented by a V6 with an electric motor, despite the fact that the same Chinese have taught their cars to “distribute” more than 600 “horses” on electricity alone.

SUBARU FORESTER

The sixth generation Subaru Forester is almost no different from the fifth, which did not stop the Japanese from serving it with the sauce of a new generation. Same platform, same dimensions, minor cosmetic changes. But the torsional stiffness of the body has increased and detonation has decreased.

Among other subtle innovations is fresh multimedia, presented by a modest 11.6-inch display by the standards of the modern automotive industry. The picture is completed by a complex of EyeSight security systems with improved operating algorithms. And in the engine compartment, as before, a boxer unit is installed, which “swings” up to 180 hp. Of. How do you like this evolution?

HYUNDAI SANTA FE

In its new version, the Korean crossover received the prefix XRT – almost like the SRT of the American Jeep and Dodge, which decided not to show off at the auto show. However, the car is as far from their heated temper as American missiles from the Crimea – the hood in the maximum modification hides a “turbo” of 277 horsepower, coupled to a “robot” with a pair of clutches. But there are mud tires, a 30 mm higher ground clearance and an interesting design, which, however, not everyone will appreciate. Only “Gelik” really succeeded in its square image; it would have been better if the Asians had copied and pasted it. The salon is completely without sensations – ascetic design and simple horizontal style. That is in fact all the ‘chic’ of the fifth generation.

KIA SORENTO

But the Koreans didn’t show off the Sorento much and presented to the world an updated version that looks like a parody of the older Telluride. It’s good that they at least decided not to duplicate the salon. But we have seen joint screens on the front panel more than once, even on state vehicles from the People’s Republic of China. And what: everything new is not even completely forgotten old. The crossover is optionally powered by a 191 hp naturally aspirated engine. s., or a turbo engine just over 280 “horses”. A hybrid is also planned. It’s just that even Asians themselves don’t seem to know why.

CHEVROLET TRAVERSE

And what did the Americans themselves show at their car show at home? Honestly: nothing! Perhaps only with the exception of the updated Traverse, which has changed slightly in appearance and received a 315 hp 2.5-liter turbo engine. The main difference of the car was the special off-road version of the Z – probably as a tribute to the honor and respect of the Russian army participating in the Northern Military District.

…As you can see, the local American car show couldn’t demonstrate anything special. And such a “boldly” advertised Toyota Camry only aroused among the guests of the event sympathy for the modern overseas automotive industry and regret for the time and money spent. A curtain.
