The tire factory in Kaluga, which previously produced tires for the German brand Continental, will be renamed Gislaved. This brand was previously transferred to the Russian holding company S8 Capital, including all production technologies and rubber compound formulations.
According to the Gislaved press service, the production capacity of the Kaluga tire factory totals 4,000,000 tires per year. The perimeter of the company also includes a site for the production of automotive parts. After moving to the Cordiant tire cluster, both factories retained jobs and compensation packages, and more than 1,000 people continue to work in production.
A premium line of tires of the Gislaved brand is produced in Kaluga, including one of the most popular models of winter tires Soft Frost 200 and Nord Frost 200. Next year it is planned to maximize the capacity of the plant, and as part of an increase in capacity the production program, to ensure a workforce increase of 10%.
The brand’s product line will be expanded – it will include summer models created using modern technologies and solutions available in the arsenal of specialists at the R&D center in Kaluga.
