In August 2023, Volkswagen Group Rus announced a new name and plans regarding further activities in the Russian market, which continued under the banner of AGR Automotive Group. The Germans promised us a restart of sales of cars from the brands VW, Skoda, Audi, Bentley and other Lamborghini brands that are part of the VAG group, but in fact we received completely different products.

Under the AGR label, so far there has only been a relaunch of the official website and company pages on social networks. But with the products that our brother loved so much, the situation turned out to be extremely ambiguous. Let us remind you that we have been promised a “comeback” in parallel with the resumption of work of the certified dealer network, where you can even find Ducati motorcycles, which, by the way, are also under the control of the VAG group.

However, dealers are in no hurry to “change their shoes”: some have long ago reoriented to the sale of “Chinese” products, while others, if they represent the interests of a newly created company, do this only optionally. In other words, as one of the companies that offers cars for sale to multi-brand retailers. The same “Avilon”, “Avtomir” and “Avtorus” and a whole series of salons previously unknown to consumers. But unfortunately you won’t be able to find the usual “Vag” models in the AGR range.

The popular ‘Skoda’ in the refurbished trunk is missing from the adverb ‘in general’. And the positions of Audi and Volkswagen are represented by Chinese models that are actually supplied from there. Of the VW series known to Russians, there are only Passat, Teramont and the generally uninteresting electric cars of the ID family. The rest of the case includes the Tayron, Tharu and Talagon crossovers, the extended and coupe-shaped Tiguan, as well as the Teramont X cross coupe.

The cars are certainly interesting. But it was possible to buy them earlier – on order and never at AGR. As for Audi, the product line includes just five models: Q3, extended A6, A7 and Q5, as well as a new crossover with the Q6 nameplate. Ultra-premium Bentleys and Lamborghinis were previously generally available from the same Avilon, but on the official AGR website these brands, which were promised in the summer, are not available at all. Apparently something went wrong.

But there are no less, if not more, luxurious ‘Chinese’ such as Avatr, Zeekr, Rising, HiPhi and LiXiang. The picture is crowned by the British Lotus, which has also been under the wings of the Chinese Geely for some time. All these cars are electric and incredibly expensive. Although AGR does not publish prices for them, AGR guarantees to provide a price list only upon request. True, the company promises customers timely after-sales service and no shortage of components. But the guarantee apparently only extends to a certain point, in consultation with the buyer and in the form of insurance products, which, however, can easily be refused.

At the same time, for cars imported and produced by Volkswagen Group Rus LLC, and sold through the official dealer network, “the warranty remains fully in accordance with the conditions specified in the sales contract.” In any case, this is exactly what AGR representatives are saying, promising to support consumers who have ‘saddled’ European cars even before the disruptions caused by known events.
