There will be no more cheap cars in Russia, but the thefts will stop: results of the week

AVTOVAZ is preparing for the relaunch of LADA Largus and the Vesta crisis, the Iranian Saipa refuses to enter the Russian market, the Chinese announce a whole series of expensive new products, the average cost of cars without mileage is rising rapidly, and ERA- GLONASS “enters the service” of law enforcement agencies. All details are in the video review of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

The head of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, revealed the timing of the resumption of production of LADA Largus. According to him, station wagons and vans will not go back into production for another six months. And if the critical situation with this model, which urgently needs components, promises to improve in the near future, then Vesta is facing a new crisis.

Yes, there is a problem with really cheap cars in Russia, and almost no one can compete with the relatively cheap Ladas. Remember, last year everyone said the Iranians should fill the niche, but no miracle ever happened. The Iran Khodro brand has gone quiet and Saipa has completely changed its mind about entering our market. Best Motors, the latter’s distributor, has initiated liquidation proceedings.

What about the Chinese? Great Wall opens sales of Wey Coffee 01, Hongqi – HS7, next year we were promised many new products, and Chery with GAC. Only now they will all cost the same as a cast iron bridge. Although SWM cars, registered at the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant, offered more or less adequate conditions: for example, the most affordable crossover G01 was estimated at 2.5 million rubles – not so much by today’s standards.

By the way, today the average cost of a new car in a dealer’s showroom is almost 3,900,000 rubles, say analysts from Avto.ru. That’s 25% more than in December 2022, when the average asking price for zero-mileage cars was 3,100,000, and it’s only going to get worse…

But there is also good news. This week it was announced that the ERA-GLONASS system will help law enforcement officers search for stolen cars next year. Plus, no upgrades or flashes are required – the car owner just needs to give the appropriate permission.
