Good luck: how much will car parts and maintenance become more expensive in Russia in 2024?
While cars will temporarily become cheaper towards the end of the year, parts and related work will continue to rise in price. Let’s say more: spare parts and maintenance prices will continue to rise relentlessly. There’s nowhere else to tighten the belt – is it really time to tighten the noose? However, public transport has not been canceled.

According to various sources in the car retail industry, the cost of car parts has increased on average one and a half to two times compared to last year. The largest price increase affected consumables for premium models. Specifically Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Land Rover, Infiniti and Lexus. However, in the mass segment they are not behind, if not ahead. According to the Russian Union of Automobile Insurers, prices for optics, windshields and body parts for Renault, Nissan and Kia cars have increased several times.

Naturally, after the price increases for original products, analogues also began to appear. True, prices for the most popular items stabilized somewhat towards the end of the year. Let’s say thanks to the competition that has emerged and the variety of component supply channels. What can we say if ordinary “consumables”, which a few months ago were considered scarce, were actively sold even on marketplaces that make a profit not because of high margins, but because of the volumes sold.

Therefore, the sites generally don’t give a damn about not-so-noticeable fluctuations in exchange rates. Another thing is certain parts that must be purchased exclusively to order. By the end of 2023, in addition to doubling the price, prices for such spare parts increased by another 20-30%.

According to analysts of the Chek Index source, car owners in Russia began to spend an average of 15,780 rubles in car repair shops, and residents of the Mother See – 20,313. The average invoice for the purchase of auto parts in the country was 3,588 rubles, and for scheduled maintenance – 20,000. In Moscow, routine maintenance fees cost 5,000 more. But in the capital it is much easier to buy parts and even find them “live”, which cannot be said about the regions where buyers have to spend not only money, but also time and nerves waiting for repairs.

Unfortunately, negative price dynamics cannot be expected for the coming year. The most optimistic scenario will be a small adjustment in the costs of components and maintenance work, and only on the condition that there are no sharp fluctuations in exchange rates, that fuel prices do not rise, and with them logistics.

It’s just hard to believe in this. Moreover, insurers have already managed to please us with predictions of an inevitable increase in the cost of components by 15-25%. And unfortunately, these numbers look much more like the truth. Amen.
