Do you accept Pix? Uber rides can now be paid for with Pix transfers

Uber announced in an official statement on Tuesday (24) that it will Accept the PIX transaction method as a payment method for Uber rides performed within the country. The novelty is being implemented gradually and the company confirmed that by the end of July it should be available to all users of the application.

According to the information, payment through Pix is made directly to the platform, and not to the partner driver. After the trip, the company will make payment to its partner drivers. To use Pix as a payment method, simply:

  • When choosing a trip, the user must select the PIX payment option.
  • Before calling the driver, the application will direct the user to a new page with a PIX code for translation.
  • The user then needs to copy the code in order to make the payment.
  • After these steps, your Uber driver partner will receive your ride request.

The company notes that payments through Pix do not require a confirmation selfie, as is the case with the cash payment method. We emphasize that if you still do not have a payment method through Pix, you will have to wait for the release of Uber, which should happen for all users by the end of July.

Selfie for cash

Uber announced last Monday (23) that the USelfie feature will be mandatory for users who do not add digital payment information and choose to pay with cash. According to the company, this feature is a request from partner drivers who are looking for more security when receiving money from passengers.

The Uselfie feature requires the deletion of the user’s photo, which will be stored in the Uber database. If necessary, authorities such as the federal police will have access to the image bank. In addition, the company confirmed that the driver will not have access to the images.

Uber CEO Sylvia Penna said the company’s intention is to improve the safety of partner drivers as well as Uber users. “Our intention is to continually improve safety. It’s a never-ending process and we will always work to use technology to our advantage to ensure the app is safe to use.” Uber is also working with CPF validation in the Serasa Experian database in addition to RG and CNH validation.
