Almost every major Russian fuel company has gasoline with higher performance characteristics in its arsenal. And of course at a higher price than fuel with a comparable octane number. But is it worth paying too much for ‘cool’ fuel? The answer to this question is in the material of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

You can find “super-duper gasoline” at almost any major oil company gas station. And no one is surprised by the proximity of the “pistols” AI-95 and AI-95 “more than the others” to the fuel pump – let’s call the brand conventionally so. Improved (according to the oil company itself) fuel always costs considerably more than regular fuel.

Judging by the advertising passages of oil traders, miracle gasoline helps to increase engine power, reduce fuel consumption and “improve” the power unit. Reportedly, even the area around the ‘car’ filled with Pro-fuel is blooming! Marketing promotion of more expensive fuel is the driving force behind the trade. Although in both form and content it is almost a copy of booklets of all kinds of dubiously miraculous gasoline additives.

But despite this, this approach works: it is not without reason that this type of “gasoline” has many fans. Some of them claim that their car runs faster, starts better and eats less with a ‘different’ fuel. Many more supporters of improved fuel fill it “just in case” – to insure against theoretically possible engine failures. This makes them feel calmer.

In fact, any gasoline sold in Russia (including AI-95 – whether regular or “more different”) must meet the requirements of the relevant GOST.

Both manufacturers and sellers of motor fuels are well aware of this and generally comply with the requirements of the law. On the other hand, if a car manufacturer recommends AI-95 for an engine, it means that it is optimal to “feed” the engine with a fluid that best meets the GOST parameters in terms of parameters. Without miracle supplements.

The regular AI-95 and the “improved” one practically do not differ from each other. And perhaps the “improvement in engine performance” noted by someone does not go beyond the margin of error, or is explained by a simple fact: as a rule, a small amount of detergent additives is additionally added to Pro gasoline. They clean (or prevent the formation of) deposits in the engine drive system. Including injectors.

Thanks to this, by burning a few tanks of the more expensive AI-95 in the engine, we bring the injection system of the car to an ideal (for its age) condition. From this, both the efficiency and dynamics of the car, from the subjective perspective of the owner, can improve – just by returning to the passport values.

So there is little point in constantly paying too much for ‘super petrol’. The car runs fine on the cheaper regular AI-95. But from time to time – for example, once a year – it is still worth using it for a week or two – for preventive cleaning of the fuel system.
