In its third reading, the State Duma passed amendments to the labor law that would allow previously convicted citizens to drive more checkered cars. In addition, the ban also applies to drivers of buses, trolleybuses and trams, but also to other route transport.

From March 1, 2023, potential drivers will be required to provide employers with a certificate of no criminal record when applying for a job.

“Persons who have unspoken or pending convictions for the following crimes may not work directly related to driving a taxi: murder, intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, kidnapping, robbery, robbery, crimes against sexual integrity and sexual liberty of the individual, crimes against public security, crimes against the foundations of the constitutional order and security of the state, crimes against the peace and security of humanity,” reads the amendments to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation.

In other words, we will no longer see criminals among taxi drivers. Meanwhile, the Russians resist the migrant drivers. The reason for this is the lack of driving skills, ignorance of the language and city streets to choose the shortest route to the final destination. By the way, the Russian Human Rights Council, represented by its chairman Valery Fadeev, proposed to tighten the selection of taxi drivers and prohibit those who do not have local “rights” from working.
