The country’s authorities plan to adjust localization requirements for electric vehicles necessary to receive government support. The current values can be revised to reflect current conditions.
As Vedomosti reports citing a representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the current requirements for the localization of electric vehicles can be verified taking into account the provisions of the automotive industry development strategy, the industry development concept, as well as the obligations of manufacturers under existing special investment contracts.
Last month, AVTOVAZ proposed tightening the requirements for the localization of electric cars for admission to state aid. The car manufacturer Togliatti considers this a necessary factor for the successful implementation of the electric LADA Largus project. It seems that the officials took into account the authoritative advice, which will clearly affect the position of other manufacturers of electric trains, in particular the Lipetsk Motorinvest, which assembles its Evolutes exclusively with a screwdriver.
As for AVTOVAZ, pilot production of e-Largus started in the middle of this month at the Lada Izhevsk site, and series production of the electric station wagon is scheduled for May 2024 – at the same time, the “regular” Largus with a gasoline engine should return to the production line. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said Russia has good prospects in electric transport and predicted an increase in electric car production to 100,000 units in the next three years.
