The Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg will come out of standstill on January 9, 2024, right after the holidays. It is still unknown which cars will be assembled in the new year, but according to some data, components from previous models will be enough for 70,000 cars.

As TASS reports with reference to the press service of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus, the St. Petersburg plant will resume work on January 9. Up to 70,000 vehicles can be assembled from leftover spare parts at the former Hyundai site. Today, however, there are enough parts to produce only 10,000 cars. But this figure can be increased if some missing components are brought to the factory from China or Kazakhstan.

The Hyundai plant has been operating in Russia since 2010 and its capacity allows it to produce up to 200,000 cars per year. Before production stopped in March 2022, Hyundai Creta and Solaris, as well as Kia Rio and Rio X-Line, were assembled at the site in the northern capital.

Now the enterprise belongs to the Art-Finance company, but Hyundai emphasized that despite the transfer of Russian assets, the Koreans will continue to service cars previously sold in our market.
